NEW YORK, NY (October 15, 2018) — The Lincoln Center Corporate Fund will host An Evening Honoring Coach and present Coach’s Creative Director, Stuart Vevers, with its Women’s Leadership Award—provided by Lalique—on Thursday, November 29, 2018, in Alice Tully Hall. Guided by Vevers, who brought his unique vision and direction to the brand in 2013—Coach’s optimistic attitude and courageous spirit is reshaping the fashion landscape today.

 

The gala evening will include the award presentation, and a performance by Chaka Khan on the Adrienne Arsht Stage. The evening begins with a champagne reception and concludes with a seated dinner in the lobby of Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. The gala benefits the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund, which raises crucial, unrestricted financial support for 10 constituent arts organizations on the Lincoln Center campus.

 

“New York City has been Coach’s home since 1941, and the art and culture of the city continuously inspire everything we do,” Vevers said. “I am extremely happy to be honored by Lincoln Center, an iconic cultural institution and symbol of creativity in New York. I am also proud to accept this award at an evening that will benefit the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund as it continues to support arts, education and the development of new talent.”

The co-chairs of An Evening Honoring Coach are Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz, Harper’s BAZAAR Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey, Christina Baker and Kenny Park of Simone.

 

“This evening raises important funds for Lincoln Center, the cultural heart of New York City,” Swartz, who is also chairman of the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund, said. “We’re pleased to celebrate Stuart Vevers and his work at Coach, a truly modern American brand known for its expert craftsmanship and authenticity.”

 

“Stuart Vevers has been a longtime friend, as well as a constant source of inspiration,” Bailey said. “His immense talent paired with his fresh vision for Coach—an iconic American heritage brand—has been exciting to witness, and I couldn’t be prouder of him to be the recipient of this year’s award.”

 

The Host Committee for the gala includes Jon Batiste, Selena Gomez, Whoopi Goldberg, Michael B. Jordan, Vic Mensa, Kiko Mizuhara, Hari Nef, Ade Samuel, Joshua Schulman, Maisie Williams, Russell and Ciara Wilson, Letitia Wright and Kate Young.

 

Since joining Coach in 2013, Vevers has successfully led a process of transformation for the 77-year-old American house of leather, re-contextualizing its identity for a new audience by introducing his signature individualistic charm and playful, youthful spirit. For the first time, the house has a presence during New York Fashion Week, with runway shows for the Coach 1941 collection—the ultimate expression of his vision. Mr. Vevers won the 2017 Accessory Designer of the Year award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

 

The Lincoln Center Corporate Fund is committed to creating an impact in our community far beyond superb artistic programming each season. The organization’s aim is to provide free programming that is open to all audiences; education and training in the arts to students, families and rising artists; and to deepen the connection with its community, especially within the five New York City boroughs.

 

The Lincoln Center Corporate Fund has previously honored Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Valentino Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, Carolina Herrera and Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière. In the past five years, more than $7.2 million has been raised for Lincoln Center and the arts through this annual gala event.
